About Me

My name is Joe Kittridge and I’m an Illustrator based in East London. I graduated from the Hereford College of Arts with a Bachelors degree but drawing has been a way of life for me since I can remember, and is first and foremost who I am.

I love the way images have the power to transport your mind to a completely different realm and how everyone interprets and identifies with them in a different way. We all have our own story that we associate to an image and the narrative we create from that can vary greatly depending on who you are and your own experiences. My work is fuelled and sparked by different stories from across the globe with myths, legends and folklore playing a very active part in firing up my imagination and keeping my creative engine running.

I use a variety of methods, techniques and materials when creating images. There is a plethora of tools out there and I want to use them all! From digital colouring and composition to wire manipulation and polymer clay, I love to explore and experiment to give my work new dimensions and depths. One thing remains constant however, putting pencil to paper is always my very first step. It’s just personal preference but I find working in this more traditional way brings a tactile aesthetic that really appeals to me.

I hope you have as much fun flicking through the images on here as I enjoyed making them, and wherever you may be looking from, have a good one!
